OUR GUIDING STATEMENTS
Our Guiding Statements aim to further articulate our Vision, Mission and Values. As a day and boarding school, we are committed to our definitions of high-quality learning, interpersonal understanding, inclusivity and the building of character.
High-Quality Learning
High-quality learning should allow for reflection and exploration of individual understanding and strengths. It should be differentiated in order to meet the needs of all learners. The education of the whole person is paramount to this definition and our commitment to Service, Physicals and Enrichments provides the real-life learning experiences that are vital to developing well-rounded individuals
Inclusivity
Developing a diverse, inclusive and tolerant community is paramount to how we operate. We ensure that the opportunity the be part of Maru-a-Pula’s educational offerings is given to a wide range of students, regardless of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, gender, religion, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, and, through our many scholarship and bursary programmes, socio economic status. We will promote multiculturalism through our curriculum and our engagement with local and international communitie
Building Character
Building character is something that we believe is key to developing well-rounded students who can reach their full potential. We aim to do this through focusing on growing confidence, self-discipline, leadership and responsibility. We want our students to learn, through practical acts of service, that they can make a difference, promote change and show compassion by understanding and helping others. This holistic approach enables our students to recognise their own potential as well as their responsibilities to their societies.
Intercultural Understanding
Valuing all members of our community is a key part of the Maru-a-Pula way. Students engage in activities and classes that allow focus on developing a wider perspective of the world in which we live and of our Botswana context. We allow our staff and students a high degree of personal expression and freedom which can often challenge ideas, views and opinions. This allows for meaningful reflections that facilitate understanding of others and learning experiences that celebrate together our common humanity
