Mascom Ground Breaking Ceremony
The Library Project has begun! The library will be receiving its first major addition since 1981, in the form of the new library annex. Mascom has generously agreed to fund the extension of the library which is slated to be completed for August 1st, 2011.
The proposed extension to the existing library will be a double storey building, covering a total floor area of 240 square metres and will include a 45 person capacity Seminar Room, and a new Information Centre including computer and languge laboratory. In keeping with Mascom's vision to connect people with each other and the world of ideas out there, the library annex will be fully serviced with data and network cabling. This cabling system will enable the smooth running of audio visual equipment such as motorized projection screens and soundsystem.
The new library will be an added advantage to the students of Maru-A-Pula as they strive to make a difference in the lives of others, their commmunities, Botswana and the world at large. The new library will provide the facilities where students will be able to connect, collaborate and begin to find ways to give back and to gain knowledge.
On the 8th of February, a ground breaking ceremony was held at the construction site of the new library annex. In attendance was the CEO of Mascom Jose Viera Couceiro as well as the CFO of Mascom Sandeep Choudry, MaP Principal Andy Taylor, members of the press, students, teachers and staff. The ceremony marked another project in partnership with Mascom and the vote of thanks coming from Form 5 student Kelly Lekobe demonstrated that this is a partnership that indeed benefits the students and the well being of the whole school.
