Maru-a-Pula School Is Greening

Welcome to Maru a Pula’s Green Drive blog.  As you may know, the Green Drive was spearheaded by then Deputy Principal Lucy Dixon-Clarke in January 2009.  Over the past year, students have been participating in activities to learn more about the environment and to make decrease MAP’s carbon footprint.  As Lucy has moved on to inspire even more individuals to expand their eco-consciousness, MAP is poised to continue the momentum of the Green Drive to instill a sound sustainability program at the school.

Primarily MAP is interested in developing our recycling program and permaculture garden full of delicious and nutritious organic vegetables and herbs so that they become an integral part of student life and awareness at MAP.  We are aiming our sights high: to become a leader in sustainability among all schools in Africa.

Check back to watch our progress unfold throughout 2010 as we work with students, faculty, and staff to expand our eco-consciousness and change our behavior to become more environmentally-friendly citizens.
